The Dumbing Down Of Tricia
I’ve been listening to NPR on the way to and from work lately and it’s really made me think that the last few years have really sapped my intelligence. I work in a restaurant as a manager in a smallish community and work with a people that are 10-17 years younger than I am. The kids are not the reason for the drain on my brain but the environment that I exist in does. I go to work and do the same thing over and over again day after day.
As I listened to NPR Saturday morning on the way to work I realized that I never knew or maybe I just forgot that Anne of Green Gables was a book before it was ever a movie. I love that movie and I love to read, how have I never read the books?
On Friday I realized that I have neither read nor watched Auntie Mame and it sounds like it is so up my alley. I’m not sure where I’ve been for the last few years. I mean, I know I’m a mom and I work full time and I’m exhausted all the time and I also liked to get sucked into stupid TV, but I used to at least make an effort to try something new.
SO, my new goal is going to be to try something new every week. Whether it be to read a new book, try a new recipe, or watch a movie I have never before watched.
I will keep you updated.
